An Element is one of the four main categories that all Monsters fall under in Monster Life: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. A Monster's appearance generally corresponds to the Element that they fall under (for instance, Sharksters resemble sharks, and are Water Monsters). Elements also play an important part in two of the major parts of gameplay: XP and battle.
Habitats and experience
Elements can improve the way Monsters gain experience when their Needs are met. Habitats are buildings that provide an experience bonus to Monsters of a particular element. If a player were to place a Fire Monster in a Fire Habitat on their Ranch, that Monster would gain more experience than if they were placed anywhere else on the Ranch.
BattleThe primary way that Elements affect Monsters is by granting them an advantage or disadvantage against their opponents.
- Earth Monsters have an advantage against Water Monsters, but are weak against Air Monsters.
- Air Monsters have an advantage against Earth Monsters, but are weak against Fire Monsters.
- Fire Monsters have an advantage against Air Monsters, but are weak against Water Monsters.
- Water Monsters have an advantage against Fire Monsters, but are weak against Earth Monsters.
When a Monster battles against an opponent they have an advantage over, they'll deal more damage than usual. When a Monster battles against an opponent they're weak against, they'll receive more damage than usual. A Monster's stats are still an important factor in winning a fight, but Elements can make a significant difference in the outcome of a battle.
